Writing, Editing, and Communicating in Architecture

Date: February 16, 2023

Time: 6-7 p.m. EST

Description:

Architecture is arguably the most public of arts that affect human psychology. The lack of a common language to discuss the built environment leads to a limited understanding of the field and its impact. Over the years, architectural design writing has emerged as a language that helps to interpret, critique, and celebrate the built environment and provides a vision to create demand for enhanced spaces and buildings, leading to better societies that culminate in improving the quality of lives.

The session aims at how writing and articulation can affect the discourse around architectural design and positively impact and influence it.

Three learning Objectives:

  1. The relevance of written communication to the subject, discipline, and profession of architecture
  2. Exploring the impact of clarity in thinking and writing on architecture and the built environment
  3. The fundamental pointers writers and editors should consider when communicating about a built space

Cost: Free for ACES members/$30 for non-members
