Introduction to Copyediting Website Copy

Date: December 12, 2024

Time: 4-5 p.m. ET

Speaker: Jaime Brockway

Description:

Copyediting or proofreading website copy is different, in some ways, from editing other kinds of content.

Website copywriters carefully choose the language to convert website visitors to customers. They optimize every word not just for SEO, but also to speak directly to a target audience with the goal of getting it to click.

So editors have to make sure their changes don't detract from copywriters' work — how to edit without disrupting that conversion.

In this webcast, Jaime will introduce the basics of editing website copy, starting with how website copy differs from other copy and why it can get away with language that other copy can't. She will also discuss how to work successfully with copywriters and what editors might charge for copyediting web copy.

Finally, Jaime will provide links to blogs and resources where attendees can learn more about copywriting and how to edit it.
