Poetry is a genre that many editors are scared of ever being asked to edit. It’s true that editing poetry is a small niche, but the effort to become a poetry editor is so worth the meaningful work and community that comes with it. In “The Art of Editing Poetry,” Hannah will explain the differences between editing fiction and poetry, what specific aspects of poetry one needs to learn before editing it, and what characteristics every poetry editor needs to have.

About the speaker:
Hannah Bartlett is a freelance editor, authenticity reader, and published poet based in Kansas. She specializes in editing poetry, short stories, and romance novels, and authenticity reading for mental health, disability, and chronic illness representation. When she is not editing, Hannah can usually be found reading romance or cozy mystery, sipping on a cup of chai, and cuddling her tortoiseshell cat.
